What is the Mama Marketplace?

The Indie Birth Mama Marketplace is designed to give moms a place to showcase their products and services without having to worry about the huge list of things you need to know to run a business online.

Its focus is to provide IndieBirth.com visitors with more value by connecting them with high quality products and services.

How to Become a Member

To become a member of the Marketplace, all you need to do is fill out a few quick forms with some information, setup your payment information and send us all the details about your product(s)… we’ll do the rest to get your stuff online and ready to sell!

When customers purchase your products, you will receive payments directly (and immediately) via Paypal®.

One of the biggest challenges of trying to sell things online is to actually get people to come to your site! If you’ve ever tried, you know how it can be.

We can help with that. We have a LOT of people coming to our site every month and we’ll draw on products from the Indie Birth Mama Marketplace to promote in Indie Birth content. So if we’re publishing an article about morning sickness, we might choose a complimentary product or service that our readers might find valuable.

We have no “scientific system” for choosing the products and we’ll do our best not to play favorites, but we’ll choose the products that we feel with provide the most value to the viewers of our content.

Here’s How It Works

The fee to participate in the Indie Birth Mama Marketplace is only $19.00 per month (you can list as many products as you like) + 10% of your gross sales. You will receive payments for your products directly from your customers via Paypal®, so getting a Paypal® account is an absolute must if you want to participate.

On the first day of the next month, we’ll send you a statement of the previous month’s sales and the exact amount of the fees that will be charged to your card. We will have a few days to correct any discrepancies between your records and ours should that ever occur.

So let’s say you sell $200 (not including shipping and handling or sales tax) worth of your products in January. On February 1st, you’ll receive a statement showing that fees of $20 (10% of $200) will be charged to your credit card on February 5th. All Indie Birth Mama Marketplace sales fees will be charged directly to a credit or debit card that you submit when you register. Your $19.00 Membership Fee will be charged monthly in a separate transaction, depending on the date you sign up.

Charging shipping and handling is up to you and does not figure in when we calculate your marketplace fee. Sales tax is also up to you. The easiest way to have Paypal® add sales tax to your orders is to login to your Paypal® account. Click on Profile, then, under Selling Preferences, click on Sales Tax. Add the appropriate states and sales tax percentages. Please consult an appropriate professional if you need help.

Once your order is processed, you will receive all the details you need to submit your products/services to be added to the catalog.

NOTE: Paypal® cannot be used as a payment option for your subscription to the Mama Marketplace. We reserve the right to refuse any merchant and/or product or service we feel is not in the best interest of the Indie Birth Community.
